About Us

At RESBED, we are committed to revolutionizing patient care by creating hospital beds that enhance both safety and functionality. With over 30 years of industry experience, founder Byron Wurdeman has an intimate understanding of the challenges faced by caregivers, nurses, and patients. Byron’s journey began in 1995 when he founded Piedmont Medical Inc. Piedmont grew rapidly, earning a reputation for delivering meticulously reconditioned hospital beds that were often mistaken for new. This extensive hands-on experience—rebuilding every major make and model of bed—equipped Byron with the insight and expertise needed to address the persistent flaws in traditional hospital beds.
RESBED was incorporated in 2019, driven by Byron’s extensive knowledge of hospital bed shortcomings, common points of failure in competitor models, and his own experience as a patient, where he faced the limitations of existing beds firsthand. This deep understanding of the challenges in patient care inspired RESBED’s mission to enhance both patient comfort and caregiver efficiency. Drawing on decades of real-world expertise, RESBED continues to innovate, developing hospital beds that meet the highest standards of safety, functionality, and comfort.
Since 2019, we have made significant progress, advancing through alpha and beta prototypes and securing manufacturing partnerships. Our beds have been rigorously designed and tested to address the flaws of traditional models, with a particular focus on improving ease of use for caregivers and enhancing comfort for patients.

With 12 patents and a vision to set a new standard for hospital beds, we continue to innovate, offering data-backed solutions that reduce strain on nurses while enhancing patient safety.
